Adam Smith scored 16 points as Chipping Norton battled back to defeat Swindon 21-10 at Greystones in Southern Counties North.
The visitors got the perfect start with a converted try under the posts and a penalty ten minutes later Chippy finally settled, and showed some promise, which allowed fly half Smith to slot two penalties.
The hosts continued moving the big Swindon pack around after the break, with Chris Dixon and Tom Hall going close.
Chippy took the lead when scrum half Liam Busby put Smith under the posts. Smith converted and added a penalty to make it 16-10.
Great cover defence from Sam Townsend and Dixon then stopped certain Swindon tries.
Chippy’s decisive try came when Ben Millard turned the ball over and Brin Walker fed Matt Dawson to score out wide.
Witney edged out Beaconsfield 15-8 in a forgettable match.
Wings James Monks and Phil Gouldie both went close for Witney, whose pack were dominant.
Fly half Henry Lamb’s chip and Monks’s pass allowed centre Aaron Tustin to run in his first Witney try from 35 metres.
Scrum half Gareth Campbell looked set to run in an interception try, but was recalled after the Beaconsfield pass was deemed to have been made in touch.
Beaconsfield reduced the arrears at half-time with a penalty, but Witney full back Ed Mitchem replied in kind The hosts bagged a second try following a scrum ten metres out.
Captain and No 8 Jez Hicks picked up and fed flanker Tim Muller, who scampered over for Mitchem to convert.
Beaconsfield managed a try , but it was not enough.
Bicester were well beaten 48-11 at Windsor.
Centre Paul Nunn bagged Windsor’s first try, with fly half James Driscoll converting and wing Taks Ndewere running in No 2.
Steve Risbridger replied for Bicester with a penalty, but Ndewere was soon scoring his second, converted by Driscoll.
Risbridger banged over another penalty, but scrum half Tom Lawrence’s try, converted by Driscoll, made it 26-6 at the break.
Bicester were back within 15 points when No 8 Martin Linstrom was driven over following Risbridger’s chip ahead.
But Windsor then cut loose with Lawrence completing a hat-trick of tries, centre Pat Birch adding another, and Driscoll converting his own score late on.
Grove lost 41-21 at home to Slough.
