North Leigh 0

Truro City 1 (Yetton 37)

North Leigh's five-game winning run in Division 1 South & West was ended by leaders Truro City at Eynsham Park.

The Cornish side edged nearer to promotion thanks to Stewart Yetton’s first-half strike.

North Leigh made a bright start with efforts from Ben Reardon and Andy McCabe just off target, while at the other end Lee Farrow dived low to save a Yetton shot.

A goal-bound Chris Allen header from a pinpoint Joe Burnell cross defected wide off a Truro defender, and then a surging Reardon run ended with a pinpoint pass to Liam Hope, but his angled effort was off target.

Truro broke the deadlock against the run of play on 37 minutes with a route one strike.

Keeper Martin Rice's long kick was flicked on by Scott Walker for Yetton to score at the second attempt after Farrow had parried his first effort.

Neither keeper was seriously tested in a second half which deteriated into a scrappy aerial contest as both sides struggled to gain any momentum, not helped by the hard surface.

In stoppage time, Hope's angled shot was comfortably held by Rice.
