Abingdon Tn 2 (Green 42, Fowler 76)

Witney Utd 5 (Wickens 20, Thompson 37, 61, 90, McMahon 50)

Ben Thompson hit a hat-trick to keep Witney United’s promotion hopes bubbling in the Premier Division with a victory which added to Abingdon Town’s relegation worries.

Witney opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Town goalkeeper Paul Wise palmed the ball on to the bar and when it bounced down, Gary Wickens was on hand to head in from a yard out.

United doubled their lead eight minutes before the break when Thompson raced away to shoot under Wise and into the net.

Abingdon grabbed a lifeline before the break with Ben Green blasting home a rebound after keeper Richard Barrett denied Mark Simms.

Witney restored their two-goal advantage just after the break when a ferocious effort from Thompson hit the angle of post and bar before falling to John McMahon to slot home.

A quick free-kick from Jamie Mills then sent Thompson away again and he slid the ball calmly into the corner of the net to make it 4-1.

Abingdon hit back when an excellent in swinging free-kick from Drew Fowler glanced off the head of Mills and into the net.

Thompson wrapped up victory for Witney by completing his hat-trick in injury time.

Hook Norton 2 (Johnson 79, Moulder 89)

Kidlington 2 (Deabill 40, 90)

Striker Jimmy Deabill earned Kidlington a point at Hook Norton with a brace – including a last-minute equaliser – in a dramatic finish.

However, many observers felt he was lucky not to be sent off before he headed the opening goal in the 40th minute, after he appeared to strike Ali Robinson in the face.

Hook Norton equalised in the 79th minute when Ricky Johnson netted his 29th goal in the league this season – and his 39th in all competitions – by turning in Daniel Szczukiewicz’s cross.

Pete Moulder raced through to fire Hook Norton ahead a minute from time.

But Deabill’s last-gasp leveller saw the spoils shared.

Flackwell Heath 3 (Glynn 3, Prichard 47, 84)

Wantage Tn 1 (Belcher 28)

Wantage Town fell behind after just three minutes when Richard Glynn hammered a low drive past the unsighted keeper Darryl Simms.

But Wantage equalised in the 28th minute when Sam Belcher scored direct from a corner.

Two minutes into the second half, Flackwell regained the lead as James Prichard squeezed the ball past Simms.

And Prichard sealed Wantage’s fate six minutes from time with his second after good work by Riccardo Cannon.
