New bookmaker Ken Campbell has nothing but praise for the betting ring at Oxford.

The veteran bookie, who stood on the No 1 pitch at Reading for many years, rates Oxford better than the Berkshire track as much the punters bet earlier.

His turnover is about the same as at his former track.

Campbell, who replaced Steve Harris has settled in well, and what makes it sweeter is that he is winning.

OXFORD’S Derby hopes were on view at Wimbledon on Tuesday where Trafalgar Cup winner Freedom Emma (Richard Yeates) posted 27.92 after winning her trial by twelve-and-a-half lengths.

Angie Kibble's Hillcross Orion clocked 27.83 in beating Yeates’ other trialist Lazerus by a neck.

l NICK Colton is anxious to see how his new puppies by Australian stud dog Elite State and Oaks finalist Africa turn out.

The six, four dogs and two bitches, one of which is owned by the country's leading owners The Bubbly Syndicate, is already named Bubbly Africa.
