Oxford United’s odds to reach the Blue Square Premier play-offs continue to tumble.

And with a grandstand finish to the season on the cards, the club have moved quickly to offer special deals on ticket prices for their remaining home games.

The U’s were as big as 33-1 to win promotion after it was announced they were being docked five points for fielding an unregistered player earlier this season.

But their magnificent run, which has taken them to within two points of the play-offs has made bookmakers take note.

The U’s are now just 3-1 to make the play-offs and 12-1 to win promotion with Oxford bookmakers River Racing.

Managing director Steve Jones said: “We have taken a number of bets on Oxford to make the play-offs, and to many, the 3-1 may seem generous.

“Obviously we are hoping that Oxford make it, but by looking at the table, we fear that they may run out of games.”

However, fans believe that United can do it, and to ensure they have the best-possible following for their three home games – against Histon, Wrexham and Northwich – the club have revealed three ticket initiatives.

The first is any fan who buys tickets for the home matches will save £5 when purchasing all three tickets together.

Any season ticket holder who buys tickets for a friend in those games can do so at a reduced rate – £10 for adults and £5 for over 65s and under 16s.

Finally, United are looking to make the Wrexham match a ‘family day’.

Anybody buying two adult and two children tickets can do so for £32 – a £20 saving on regular prices.

Chairman Kelvin Thomas said: “There is still plenty to play for and we would love to have huge crowds here for the last three home league games of the season.

“We hope these offers will catch the eye of one or two fans who haven’t been coming along to games and who want see what all the fuss has been about.

“Or perhaps we can encourage season ticket holders to bring along their friends who haven’t been for a while.

“These special offers are aimed at giving the team the biggest support possible for three massive games.”

Meanwhile, United will hold a fans’ forum at the Kassam Stadium on Monday, April 6.

Chairman Kelvin Thomas and manager Chris Wilder will lead the panel, who will review the club and present some plans for the future as well as taking questions from fans throughout the evening.

Doors open at 7pm, with the evening to start at 7.30pm.

The evening is free, but the club are asking for donations to their youth development – and anyone who gives £5 or more will be entered into a raffle to win a VIP package for two for the Northwich game on Sunday, April 26.
