West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon believes dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up Youmzain is a worthy favourite for Saturday's Dubai Sheema Classic.

Channon's six-year-old has finished third and fifth in the $5m Group 1 contest at Nad Al Sheba in the last two years.

He heads the market for this year's renewal at 5-1, just ahead of Hong Kong Vase winner Doctor Dino.

Prior to his second-placed finish behind Zarkava in the Arc, Youmzain won the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud, in which Doctor Dino finished third, before he finished third in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

Speaking from Dubai, Channon said: "His form is in the book. I am very happy with him. We have had a very good preparation.

"I was here two or three weeks ago and he worked very well and he has continued to do so.

"He has had a great preparation, so I am really pleased.

"Doctor Dino has won all over Europe and so has our fellow. It is a very high-class race and all the trainers are wishing we have the one that is right on the day."

Channon watched Youm-zain's final piece of fast work on Tuesday.

The son of Sinndar was put through his paces alongside regular work companion Compton's Eleven, a former Dubai Carnival winner.

"He is a very talented horse and I think we have as good a chance as anyone," added the West Ilsley handler.

WARDINGTON Lad, trained by Lawney Hill at Aston Rowant, sprang a 33-1 shock under Richard Killoran at Towcester yesterday.
