Eddie Pepperell helped England defeat Spain in their biennial match at La Reserva in Sotogrande.
The 18-year-old Drayton Park member won both his foursomes matches in England’s 13½-10½ victory.
Pepperell teamed up with Luke Goddard to beat Antonio Hortal and Pedro Oriol by one hole, and to post a 5 & 4 win against Moises Cobo and Sebastian Garcia.
But he lost his singles match to Hortal 2 & 1.
NEIL Rowlands has been appointed Chipping Norton’s director of golf as the club forges ahead with a new management team.
Rowlands steps up from club professional, with assistant Stewart Davies replacing him.
Graham Reynolds has been elected president, while fellow former captain David Newton will chair Chippy’s general management committee.
ONLY four of 68 golfers who took up the challenge to play North Oxford to their handicaps achieved the feat.
Manager Bob Harris said: “I think we have proved that our course is a real test.”
ELIZABETH Sadler recovered from four holes down to help Frilford Heath Ladies beat Oxford Ladies 3-0 in the first round of the Mail on Sunday competiton at Southfield.
Chipping Norton reached the third round after an emphatic 5-0 home win against Burford.
