Bicester Under 14s won their fourth consecutive Oxfordshire Cup with a 20-15 victory over Banbury in the final at Stratfield Brake.

The team, who have now won county titles at under 11, 12, 13 and 14 level, were made to work all the way.

Bicester centre Henry Gayler opened the scoring with a try, but Banbury hit back with a Josh Megsonpenalty.

Dan Rowland’s try put Bicester 10-3 up before Drew Vwenter’s try made it 10-8.

Tries from Tom Burrell and James Grosvenor looked to have given Bicester a comfortanle 20-8 lead.

But a try from Bret Margieson, converted by Megson, led to a nervy finish.

Nick Boreham scored four tries as Abingdon Under 13s claimed the Oxfordshire Plate with a convincing 31-0 win over a battling Oxford Harlequins in the final.

In a close first half, Abingdon opened the scoring in the 20th minute with 40-yard run to the line by Boreham.

Rory Garrett’s conversion made it 7-0 at half-time.

After the break Abingdon ran away with the game, despite Quins’ brave efforts.

There were three more tries from Nick Boreham and one from Jackson Burton – all run in from 40 yards, illustrating the side’s great pace.

Garrett added two more conversions to complete their tally.

Under 13 – Cup: Wallingford 0, Henley 34. Plate: Oxford Harlequins 0, Abingdon 31. Under 14 – Cup: Banbury 15, Bicester 20. Plate: Witney 5, Wallingford 37.

Chinnor won the Oxfordshire Under 16 League and broke a seven-year duck with a 19-15 victory at Henley.

They had never previously beaten Henley, but tries from Mitch Cann (2) and Will Ashworth, plus two Ben Carrington conversions secured the win.

Banbury Under 11s won the Bicester B Festival without losing a game.

They defeated Tring twice, 20-10 and 10-5, and secured two 10-5 victories over Bicester.

Banbury’s try scorers were Charlie Mallock (3), Oliver Haynes (2), William Bradbury, Luca Catania, William Hopkins, Alex Jackson and Alfie Wardle.

The festival was attended by Wasps and England lock Tom Palmer, community coach Ben Smiley and mascot Sting, who brought along the Guinness Premiership trophy.

England Under 16 A will take on London Wasps Academy at Iffley Road on Sunday (12).
