Vale of White Horse Schools Under 15s recorded a battling 2-0 win over Mid Oxon in the Maurice Chalk Oxfordshire Cup semi-final at Milton United in a game which was held up for 45 minutes due to a floodlight failure.

Ollie Taylor gave Vale the lead with a 20th-minute penalty after he had been fouled.

The floodlights then went out, and there was a lengthy delay while the electricity company were called to replace a main fuse.

Mid Oxon looked the better side for much of the game, but Vale clinched victory two minutes from time when Ashley Wilde crossed for Sam Davis to score.

Vale of White Horse Schools Under 13s maintained their unbeaten record in the Meeson League with a 1-1 draw against Luton at Offley FC.

Olly Thomas’s pass sent Connor Powell clear and he fired Vale ahead.

But Luton equalised early in the second half with a 20-yard shot which went in off a post.

Vale of White Horse Schools Under 11s’ dreams of playing at Wembley were dashed when they lost 4-0 to Southampton in the last four of the ESFA Under 11 Championships south west regional final at Poole.

Two goals in each half ended Vale’s challenge at Oakdale Middle School.

Southampton went down 2-0 to Jersey in the final and the Channel Islanders now go to the national final at Wembley on June 13 when England Under 18s face France.

Vale had kicked off with a 1-1 draw against Gloucester with Chris Druce giving Vale the lead.

They then recorded 1-0 wins over Penwith (West Cornwall) and Jersey, with Stuart Moffatt and Harry Denton scoring respectively.

A 1-0 defeat by Poole & East Dorset failed to stop Vale going through to the semi-finals, but that was where their luck ran out.
