St Andrew’s lifted the Oxford City Schools’ FA open seven-a-side cup with a 2-1 win after extra time over Headington rivals St Josephs at Oxford Community School.

Sam Weitzel was St Andrew’s hero, grabbing the winner with a dipping shot 30 seconds from time.

Max Jones had earlier given St Andrew’s the lead only for St Josephs to equalise.

In the semi-finals, St Andrew’s defeated another Headington side, Windmill, 4-1 with goals from Jones, Weitzel, David Vickers and Nickolas Harte, with Dan Mirner replying.

St Joseph's beat St Mary & St John 4-2 in the other semi.

It continued an excellent season for St Andrew’s, who represent Oxfordshire in the south west final of the ESFA Schools’ Cup at Millfield Prep School, Street in Somerset on Saturday.

The winners go on to Wembley for the national final on Saturday, June 13 when England Under 18s face France.

St Andrew’s are also through to the Debt Dr Oxford United Under 11 five-a-side final against Windmill at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, April 4 before United’s game against Histon.
