Oxford Harlequins coach John Brodley was delighted with his side’s attacking play against Chipping Norton.

He said: “I was very pleased with the way we controlled the game and our attitude was great.

“We had a good start, which we asked for.

“We knew in games like this, being strong favourites can be troublesome.

“In training we spent a lot of time on moving the ball wide and making their forwards run around the park.

“The other good thing was to be in a position to give the young lads some good game time. They will really learn from the experience.

“We were on a hiding to nothing. We have won the game, and people will say we expected you to.”

Chipping Norton’s director of rugby Andy Dawson said: “The good conditions really suited them. We needed a bit of rain and wind.

“I thought we matched them up front, and deserved our three tries.

“Our skills matched their skills, but the pace they played at was what killed us.

“Conceding five tries in ten minutes before half-time, you could see we were knackered.

“That backline struggled against sides like Bracknell, so I’m just glad they are not in this cup!”
