Banbury Utd 0

Tiverton Tn 3 (Jarvis 9, 27, Mudge 72)

Banbury United remain in big relegation trouble following this defeat in a disappointing Premier Division clash against Tiverton.

In the first half, the visitors had two chances, and right back Paul Jarvis netted both with ease.

Tiverton took the lead in the ninth minute when Jarvis cut in from the right, and although Joe Murrell saved well from his fierce drive, the defender latched on to the rebound to fire home.

Within a minute, Jon Gardner beat the wall with a free-kick, but it cannoned off Tiverton goalkeeper Steve Book, and was cleared.

Tiverton doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Banbury’s defence went missing again, and Jarvis had the easy task of heading over the advancing Murrell.

In the second half, new signing David Stone, who had replaced the injured Gardner ten minutes before the break, set up chances for Ian Gordon and Richard Groves, but both were wasted.

Banbury were made to pay in the 72nd minute when Jamie Mudge capitalised on dire defending by Luke Bennett and Aaron Stringfellow to nip in and steer the ball past the stranded Murrell.

Banbury Utd: Murrell, Stringfellow, Stanbridge, Buckwell, Bennett, Redknap, Travers (Bridges 46), Gardner (Stone 35), Forinton, Gordon, Groves. Subs not used: Milner, Peppiatt, Sambrook.

Attendance: 308.
