Karl Bushell showed just why he is regarded as one of the best players Oxfordshire has seen with a tremendous victory in the final of the Oxford & District League’s Divisional Championship.
The Forum player, who had beaten Jeremy Flint in the semi-finals, was second best for much of the final against Neil Hurford.
Trailing 6-0 in the opening game, Bushell could find no way back and went down 11-6.
But he held his nerve when it mattered to claim the second 11-9, and then won 11-5, 11-7 to seal another crown In Division 2, Mark Scott ground out victory over Markus Wagner.
Scott won the opening game 11-7, but Wagner levelled after taking the second 12-10.
However, Scott upped the tempo and took the next two sets 11-7, 11-5.
Young Chris Smith took the Division 3 title in style.
Despite a blip in the third game when Ricki Whiteaway avoided a whitewash, Smith claimed a 11-1, 11-9, 15-17, 11-5 victory.
Thomas Bowden won the Division 4 title after a straight sets win against Ewan Shearer, 11-6, 12-10, 11-8.
