Didcot Barramundi swimmer Alex Murphy proved the top star with a stunning five gold medals in the Oxon and North Bucks County Championships at Aylesbury.

All five of the 13-year-old's victories came in county meet record times, while he also secured three silvers and three bronzes.

When winning the 100m and 200m breaststroke titles, Murphy recorded national qualifying times, which were the second quickest in the whole championships, irrespective of age.

It was a successful meeting for the club, who picked up a host of other silver and bronze medals.

Four of the silvers came from Alex's ten-year-old brother David.

Regional qualification times were also recorded by Daniella Springett, Yassmine Girgis and Olly Ripley.

There were double silver medals for the nine-to-ten years boys’ freestyle and medley relay team of Matthew Taylor, Luc Bouet, David Murphy and Olly Ripley.

In the same age group, the girls’ free-style and medley relay team of Lucy Walker, Poppy Concannon, Mollie Boyce and Shannon Motha won two bronzes.
