Chinnor will have to front up when they visit National 3 South basement boys Havant on Saturday.

That is the view of coach Jason Bowers, who was not happy with their forward display against Henley last week.

Havant, who secured a bonus-point victory at Chinnor in November, may be rock bottom, but have one of the heaviest packs in the league.

Bowers said: “We have got to play well on Saturday. We have to get back into our stride.

“We need to compete better in the scrummage.

“Hopefully, this week we’ll be able to get a bit more first-phase possession and go from there.”

Wasps Academy trio Christian Wade, Jack Wallace and Sam Jones are unavailable, as are Oxford Blues Chris Mahony, Bert Payne and Peter Wright, who are on tour in Japan.

Prop Bob Baker and hooker Arthur Ellis should return after England Under 20 duty, while prop Ian Stock, flanker Angus Neilson and centre Darren Oxley are all fit after injuries against Henley.

Flanker Max Williams, prop Tom Whelan and wing Tom Shiel all return.

Henley Hawks can do Chinnor a massive favour by winning at the Thame club’s main relegation rivals Lydney.

Hawks, who have no fresh injury concerns, should have leading kicker Danny Wells and lock Steve Green back for the clash in the Forest of Dean.

On-loan London Irish hooker James Clark is starting for England Under 20s against Scotland at Worcester tonight.

Henley will look to repeat the forward dominance they showed in last week’s 19-7 defeat of Chinnor.

Holders Oxford Harlequins will be strong favourites to defeat visitors Chipping Norton in Saturday's Oxfordshire Cup semi-final (3).

Quins, who have lifted the cup for the last three years, move Adam Pearson to No 8 with Angus McDowell and Cameron Gray teaming up in the second row.

Huw Jones is unavailable, so Nick Sevier moves to full back. Anthony Cope remains at inside centre.

Academy props Matt Edney and Ollie Barlow, plus back-row forward Sam Briggs are on the bench.

Quins coach John Brodley said: “They have impressed for the colts and in the Under 21 Academy game against Witney.

“They deserve their chance in preperation for the extended league season next year.”

Carl Strutt replaces Phil Gouldie on the wing as Witney visit Banbury Bulls in Sunday’s semi-final.

Banbury host Vipers in Midlands 3 East South tomorrow, but hope to keep enough players fresh for the following day.

This is the third season in a row the teams have met at Bodicote Park in the county cup, with Witney winning in 2007 and Bulls successful last year.

Gosford All Blacks also face a double-header.

With relegation still possible, they cannot afford to take tomorrow’s visit to Swindon College in the BB&O Premier Division lightly.

But Gosford will also be hopeful of winning at Abingdon in the Oxfordshire Shield semi-finals on Sunday.

Many players are likley to double up, but Gosford have selected two different front rows.

Mark Dimond, Matt Williams and Mark Wittet face Swindon, with Tony Baughan, Brian Strong and Dave Brogan lining up at Abingdon.
