Witney Roadrunner Chris Miles set a personal best at the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday, clocking 1hr 42mins 36secs.
That didn’t tell the full story, however, as Miles reported.
He said: “We got a nice medal, but the embarrassing thing was that a male dressed as a shoe finished three minutes ahead of me.
“I wanted to tie his laces together!”
RADLEY'S girls swept the board with three age group titles when the Oxfordshire Sportshall season came to an end at Wheatley.
The Radley team not only won the under 11, 13 and 15 crowns, but also picked up the combined under 11 and 13 cup.
Megan Humphreys and Rachel Bibby finished second and third in the under 11 individual competition, while Hayley Perrin was runner-up in the under 13 section. Susan Keet was third in the under 15 age group.
Radley’s boys won the under 11 title. They also had individual success with Ryan Sexton winning the competition and Robbie Crowther finishing third.
The under 15 boys came runners-up, with Edward O'Hara third overall.
Witney Roadrunners’ under 15 Rhys Morgan finished second.
SUSPICIONS that the Bourton 10k yielded a high number of personal bests this year were confirmed when the course was remeasured as 9.89k!
Many Oxfordshire runners entered the event, which some have referred to as the ‘Bourton Short’un’, with it having been found to be 110m short.
WHITE Horse Harrier Richard Jegou won both the shot (10.38m) and discus (32.60m) at the Kingston/Polytechnic throws meeting and came second in the hammer (28.25m).
