Oxford United boss Chris Wilder has targeted two wins from the next three crunch away games.

The U’s face testing trips to Kettering, Rushden and Stevenage over the next 11 days that will make or break their season.

But Wilder says they will go into the matches, starting at Kettering’s Rockingham Road this Thursday, full of belief, as they have chalked up two wins in a four-match unbeaten away run.

“We’ve got to make sure this week we tune in,” he said.

“Yes, we look at it game by game but, as I’ve said to the boys, we’ve got to look at these next three games and see if we can pick up a couple of wins, which I feel we’re more than capable of away from home.

“They’re different challenges, but I think we’re strong.

“We’ve got (Shane) Killock coming back, Adam Murray came through Saturday’s game with no ill-effects, and Damian Batt and Luke Foster both played again, so we’re quite strong in terms of what we’ve got available, and we’ve got to go for wins.

“If we could do that in the next two games, it sets us up for Stevenage. We’ll be positive at Kettering. They’re doing well as well, and have had a decent season.

“It’s up to them as well because they’re the home team. You never know, it might open it up for us.”

Defender Kevin Sandwith, who opened the scoring for United in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Grays, said: “We’ve got three big away games coming up, but we’ll have a real positive attitude.

“We’re a decent side, so we’ve got nothing to fear in this league, and we’ll be looking to achieve in all three games.”

With his former club Weymouth still on the brink of administration, which would mean ten points deducted and almost certain relegation, Sandwith says it is odd how this season has unravelled, so unexpectedly, for him.

“It’s strange the way things have come about for myself these last few months,” he admitted.

“It’s turned out quite well really, because I’ve joined the biggest club in the league, and I’ve worked with Chris before and enjoyed my time with him. ”

ADAM Chapman, Oxford United’s on-loan midfielder, has been called up by Northern Ireland Under 21s to play Ukraine at Shamrock Park, Portadown, on Tuesday, March 31.

The game falls between United’s trip to Stevenage and the home clash against Histon, so the Sheffield United youngster won’t miss any of Oxford’s matches.
