Swindon Supermarine 1 (Griffin 12)
Oxford City 1 (Faulkner 48)
Oxford City had to settle for a point in Wiltshire, despite having the better of this Premier Division encounter.
They made an encouraging start, but it was Swindon who went in front when a ball from midfield fell to Nick Stanley.
He crossed to Alan Griffin, who made no mistake from close range.
The goal failed to upset City’s rhythm, but they were unable to find the openings that their superiority deserved.
However, three minutes after the break, City were back on level terms when Mark Bell put James Faulkner through on goal.
Shaking off his marker, Faulkner ran on to plant a firm shot into the net.
Alex Fisher fired over from a Bell cross, while at the other end, a free-kick from Swindon’s Stanley was headed just wide by Griffin.
City believed that had grabbed the winner late on when Andy Ballard met Bell’s cross, but somehow, Swindon keeper Matt Bulman made an excellent one-handed save to deny City all three points.
Oxford City: Harrison, Lambert, Clarke, Gunn, Pond, Savage, Fisher, Malone, Faulkner, Ballard, Bell (R Brooks 88). Subs not used: Merritt, Ford.
Attendance: 211.
