Didcot Tn 1 (King 60)

Bridgwater Tn 2 (Duharty 8, King 42)

Didcot's bid for the Division 1 South & West play-offs suffered another blow as their stuttering form continued at the Loop Meadow Stadium on Saturday.

In a game of few goalscoring opportunities, Bridgwater took the lead with the first chance when Marcus Duharty nodded home over the advancing Tom Bucknor.

Bridgwater keeper Tom Manley denied Michael Bartley with a diving stop, and then produced another brave save after Josh Dutton-Black’s mazy run.

Didcot’s Martin Brown headed Dutton-Black’s corner over the bar when well-placed, and the home side were punished for this shortly afterwards.

On the stroke of half-time, Bridgwater doubled their lead when Ryan King deflected a Nat Pepperell free-kick into the far corner.

The home side dominated for long spells after the break.

Bartley was denied by a fine double block from Manley in the 48th minute, before Jack King reduced the arrears with a volley on the hour.

Manley beat out another Bartley volley, while Andy Williams saw a goalbound header cleared off the line.

It took a brilliant tackle from King to deny Anton Olondo on a Bridgwater counter-attack, and the visitors saw out the closing stages to make it a frustrating day for Didcot.

Didcot: Bucknor, Heapy, Dutton-Black, Williams, Brown, Mortimer-Jones (Howell 70), John (Sampson 55), King, Bartley, Roach (Osbourne-Ricketts 55), Powell.
