Banbury United have appointed former Oxford United midfielder as their new manager.
Jeffrey, who was a great servant to United throughout the 1970s, making more than 300 league appearances, comes to the Spencer Stadium with a wealth of non-league experience, having previously managed Rugby Town and Stamford in the Southern League.
Although he will assume full control of the team from Tuesday’s home game with Stourbridge, Jeffrey plans to join up with the present management team of Anton Sambrook, Wally Hastie and Steve Slaughter for Saturday's crucial British Gas Business League Premier Division relegation battle at Mangotsfield.
A statement from Banbury United interim chairman Paul Jones said: “The club firmly believe that Billy has all the appropriate qualities and experience to steer the team through its current challenges.”
