Banbury United have still not yet decided who will succeed Kieran Sullivan following his decision to resign as manager.

Sullivan quit following last weekend’s 5-0 home drubbing by Chippenham in the BGB Southern League Premier Division.

There has been speculation that former Oxford United duo Mike Ford, player-coach of Oxford City and Dave Savage, who plays for the Court Place Farm outfit, were in the frame for the job.

But interim chairman Paul Jones said: “I can confirm that no applications have been received from either of those or from Kevin Brock.”

However, Jones said they had yet to make a decision.

He added: “We had a list of seven candidates and have cut that down to a short-list of four.”

Anton Sambrook, Wally Hastie and Steve Slaughter will take charge of Banbury for Saturday's trip to Mangotsfield.

But Sambrook won’t be taking over as manager and neither will ex-player and now Hook Norton boss Karlton Stratford.

Sambrook said: “I haven’t put in an application. I have alot of work commitments and I’m not ready for the step-up.

“The club were hoping to get someone in by Saturday, but the chairman asked myself, Wally and Steve to take charge on an interim basis.

“I was disappointed when Kieran decided to go, but I understood where he was coming from.”

He added: “I spoke to Karlton on Wednesday night and he said has not applied.”

Oxford City play-off bid has suffered a set-back after striker Craig Faulconbridge was ruled out for their trip to Swindon Supermarine with a serious ankle injury.

It’s a bad blow for City who are without winger Jamie Brooks for the season.

The ex-U’s star requires a knee operation, Faulconbridge is expected to be sidelined for at least ten days.

City player-manager Justin Merritt says his team who are 10th still have a realistic chance of making the play-offs.

“After Tuesday’s result (they won 2-0 at play-off challengers Chippenham), it’s a really big match for us.

“A couple of wins for us and it all changes.

“There is a lot of pressure will all be on them to win all those games in hand.

It’s tough, but we’re looking to win it.”

Didcot Town are without Michael Watkins (unavailable) when they entertain Bridgwater in Division 1 South & West.

Tom Buckner takes over.

Although Didcot could only draw with Uxbridge in midweek, boss Stuart Peace said: “Although we dropped two points I was pleased with our performance.

“If we play like that we’ll win more games than we will lose.”

Abingdon United keeper Sam Warrell returns from a ban for their trip to Paulton.

Julian McCalmon should recover from a foot injury.

North Leigh give a late test to striker Andy McCabe (groin) before they host Winchester.

Chris Allen (hamstring) and Karl Dodds (nose) are out.
