Lucy Boggis was the star for Great Britain as she helped the team to the gold medal at the Under 23 Pentathlon International at Cardiff.
Boggis, 20, who hails from Lew near Witney, was named as Great Britain captain, despite being the youngest member of the team.
They were considered as the underdogs in a tough-looking competition, but Boggis led by example.
Boggis achieved personal bests in the long jump, shot and 800m for an overall points pb of 3,940.
This puts her tenth on the all-time British best performance list with another two years to go in this age group.
Her achievements gave her the individual silver medal, and she will be targeting the No 1 spot in 2011.
Named as Britain’s athlete-of-the-match, Boggis is now looking forward to a successful summer season.
