David Kuester had good cause to celebrate after the veteran athlete won six medals in the 60-65 age group in the Britsh Open Masters Indoor and Winter Throws Championships at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre, Enfield.

Kuester, a member of Bicester AC and Oxford City AC, won silver in the 60m hurdles in 12.78 secs and the javelin with a throw of 37.68m.

He won four bronze medals, leaping 3.62m in the long jump.

Kuester also threw the discus 31.47m, hurled the shot 10.25m, and completing his tally with a throw of 12.98m in the heavy hammer.

Abingdon Ambler Duncan Talbot won the men’s 55 age group high jump.

Talbot jumped 1.55m, which is a new Southern Counties age group record.

He was also second in the 60m hurdles in 11.44.

White Horse Harriers’ Vet 60 athlete Richard Jegou emerged with two silver medals, in the shot (10.71m) and discus (35.74m).

Radley’s Natasha Mighty won gold in the women’s Vet 35 heavy hammer with a personal best of 10.03m.

She also won a silver with 10.25m in the shot, while clubmate Louise Oliver took bronze with 9.02.

In the long jump, Oliver won bronze with a pb of 4.64m.
