Abingdon captain Josh Tomlinson scored five times as his side ran out 7-5 winners in a 12-goal thriller in Division 1 against local rivals Bicester at Tilsley Park.

Rhe hosts got off to the prefect start when Tomlinson pounced on Andy Ringsell's mis-hit shot to force the ball in.

However, Bicester were soon level, courtesy of a Wayne Dobbins penalty corner strike, and against the run of play took the lead through Chris Rough.

Tomlinson equalised with a low penalty corner drag flick, but Bicester took the lead once again with a penalty stroke from captain John Roger.

Four goals in ten minutes put Abingdon firmly in control. Owen Blackburn levelled, and a Will Trigg penalty stroke and two more goals from Tomlinson put them 6-3 ahead.

Rough pulled one back, but Tomlinson scored the goal of the match. In the dying seconds, Matt Way scored a fifth for Bicester.

City of Oxford overcame OMT 2-0 thanks to two sucessful penalty flicks.

The first, from Martin James, only just made it to the backboard, so Dan Soloman stepped up to take the second.

Leaders Wallingford were held to a 1-1 draw in their top-of-the-table clash atNewbury on Saturday.

A second-half goal from Tim Chamberlain earned Wallingford a vital point from Rich Pool’s cross.

The following day, Wallingford ran riot at Leighton Buzzard, winning 7-0.

James Lanyon and Chamberlain both scored braces, with the tally being completed by James Brice, James Charleston and Matt Armitage’s pen-alty.

Witney slumped to a 5-1 defeat at home to South Bucks.

In the Regional division, Rover Oxford fell to two away defeats, going down 4-0 at Maidenhead on Saturday and 3-1 at PHC Chiswick the following day, when Andy Wynd got their goal.

Oxford Hawks climbed above Tulse Hill and out of the bottom two in Premier Division 1 by drawing 2-2 at home to Staines, while Tulse Hill crashed 7-1 at runaway leaders Fareham.

Freddie Coppin and Peter Forshaw got the Hawks goals.

George Brooker hit a brace as Banbury defeated Maidstone 3-1, with Adrian Simons getting their other goal.
