Bridgwater Tn 1 (Forward 56)

North Leigh 0

North Leigh were undone by a solitary Bridgwater strike early in the second half of an uninspiring Division 1 South & West match.

Stuart Hole, impressive during their recent good form, replaced the injured Karl Dodds in the centre of defence, but the Yellows’ midfield was unable to gain any initiative in a scrappy first half.

The closest they went to scoring came when, from a lofted Simon Futcher free-kick, the unmarked Hole evaded the Bridgwater offside trap, but side-footed wide from eight yards.

Bridgwater broke the deadlock ten minutes after the interval when Chris Young chested down a left wing cross for Dan Forward, whose rising shot beat keeper Lee Farrow from ten yards.

North Leigh boss Mark Gee made a double change and the introduction of Jamie Jackson and Ben Reardon saw his side respond with their best spell of the game.

A chipped Andrew Helby free-kick gave Liam Hope a clear shot, but his low shot was blocked by Town keeper Stuart Wood, who then parried away Chris Allen’s angled for a corner.

The visitors were almost caught on the break, but their search for an equaliser was in vain. To add to a disappointing day, Allen limped off late in the game
