Oxford City 0
Evesham 1
(Lennon 64)
Andy Baird was sent off as Oxford City's seven-match unbeaten Premier Division run came to an end at home to Evesham on Saturday.
Baird was red-carded along with Evesham’s Anthony Robinson following a flare-up in the 26th minute.
Robinson had already been penalised for a foul on Baird, when the City player reacted with a strong challenge on his opponent before the free-kick could be taken.
The referee sent both players off.
City were already unhappy with the officials.
Craig Faulconbridge thought he had put his side ahead with a header, but a free kick was given instead.
Then Alex Fisher worked his way into the area, only for his run to behalted by a defender tugging on his shirt. But it brought no reaction from the referee.
The only goal of a disappointing game came early in the second half.
Tom Warner floated over a cross that saw the normally reliable City keeper Ryan Harrison drop the ball, allowing Danny Lennon a simple tap-in.
Oxford C: Harrison, Lambert, Clarke, Gunn, Pond, Savage (R Brooks 57), Fisher, Malone, Faulconbridge (Faulkner 57),, Baird, Bell (Ballard 70). Subs not used: Davis, Williams.
Referee: N.Field (West Haddon).
