Kidlington 1 (McGovern 60)

Chalfont Wasps 2 (Paget 46, Harding 56)

Match abandoned 85 mins

Referee Kieran Bailey sensationally abandoned Kidlington’s match with Chalfont Wasps five minutes from time, following an altercation with the home side’s assistant manager Kelvin Alexis.

Alexis was ordered from the dug-out for remarks made to the referee following a controvesial incident when Chalfont’s keeper Jack Sillitoe appeared to feign injury following a challenge with Kidlington centre forward Jimmy Deabill.

Alexis (pictured) went ten yards from the dug-out, pointing out that he needed to be there to make substitutions as player/ manager Matty Hayward was on the field.

The referee was then reported to have told Alexis to go to the clubouse. When he declined, Mr Bailey called off the game. Alexis declined to comment on the affair.

This handed a 2-1 victory to Chalfont, who were relieved after coming under severe pressure in the closing stages.

Kidlington spokesmanm, Simon Dickens, said that the club would be waiting to see the referee’s report before deciding whether to appeal.

The home side felt that the referee was under pressure having made some controversial decisions earlier in the game.

Wasps took the lead immediately after half-time, when Adam Paget headed home from Rob Charles’s right-wing cross.

Jack Harding made it 2-0 ten minutes later, following an apparent foul on Hayward which the referee failed to spot.

Emmett McGovern headed home on the hour to put Kidlington back in the game. The home side’s equaliser appeared inevitable until the premature end.
