James Constable scored with two first-half penalties to put Oxford United in charge of their Blue Square Premier game at Forest Green.
Both times he slotted the ball to the right of goalkeeper Terry Burton from the spot, to the delight of a massive U's following.
The opening goal came on 21 minutes after Lewis Haldane had been brought down by Jerry Gill.
Five minutes later, Craig Farrell was tripped in the box by centre back Mark Preece after good work by Murray and Chris Carruthers.
But Forest Green pulled a goal back with a fine long-range drive from their captain, Darren Jones, to make it 2-1 to Oxford.
