With only two weeks of the Oxford & District Billiards League season remaining, newcomers Riley A look set to win the Division 1 title.
Following their 3-0 win this week over Eynsham, they are seven points clear of nearest rivals Fieldside, who have a game in hand.
There was a shock this week as Division 2 leaders CCC B beat Division 1 challengers New Club 2-1.
John Simpson (+30) gave CCC a great start when he beat Alan King (+20) 200-135, making breaks of 27 and 37.
Then, veteran Ken Olive (+70), who at 83 years of age is the oldest player in the league, surprised reigning Arthur Cook champion Alan Mander (+60) 150-117 to secure victory.
But Justin Shepherd (+30) saved New Club’s blushes by out-scoring Brian Mabbutt (+20) 200-180.
Fieldside went to HCC A and came away 2-1 winners.
Norman Woodcock (+70) beat Tony Palmer (+100) 150-138 and skipper Paul Robinson (-60) edged out Doug Howse (+30) 200-199 to seal the result.
John Williams (+70) got HCC A’s only point when he beatMike Chapman (+90) 150-128. It was only Chapman’s second loss in 15 matches.
