Bicester No 8 Jon Hicks remains in Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital as he recovers from a serious leg injury.

Hicks is out for the season after breaking a leg and dislocating an ankle in their 44-17 defeat at Marlow.

It is hoped Hicks will be released by tomorrow.

Bicester press officer Paul Chrisp said: “This is a real blow for us as Jon has come back after two years’ absence.

“He seemed to have got his appetite for the game back and has made a big impact.”

Hicks’s fellow forward Rob Thurlow is also out for the season with a chest injury.

Bicester's second team will clinch the BB&O Division 1 North title and promotion to Premier A by beating Bletchley 2nd on Saturday.

Victory would leave Bicester at least ten points clear at the top with nearest rivals Beaconsfield 2nd only able to secure another eight.

Banbury Under 11s’ unbeaten record ended with a narrow defeat in the semi-finals of the Northampton Saints Matchday Festival.

Ampthill, who went on to win the event, proved their undoing with a 5-0 victory.

Tries from Jake Anderson, Jack Briggs and Aaron Taylor saw Banbury open up with a 15-0 defeat of Kettering.

Shane Allen (2), Caleb Shepherd, Briggs and Oliver Roberts scored in a 25-0 victory over Huntingdon, while Toby Chapman’s try saw them beat Biggleswade 5-0.
