Headington Roadrunner Steve Kimber landed the senior and overall men’s titles for the fourth successive season as he won the final round at Clanfield on Sunday.

Kimber needed only a top-five finish at the Woodstock Harriers-hosted last round, but he once again proved he was a master in his class as he held off a strong challenge from Oxford City’s Darrell Bellinger to defend his crown in style.

Alchester’s Nigel Marley, the only man who could have realistically challenged Kimber for the title, finished third in the race to secure the runners-up spot – and his strong performances throughout the season augur well for the future of an up and coming club.

But this was to be Kimber’s day as he crossed the line on a new course in 30mins 03secs.

Bellinger was just five seconds behind Kimber, while Marley clocked 30.16 in third.

Job King, of White Horse Harriers, secured third place in the senior men’s standings.

King finished fourth in the final race, clocking 30.39 to finish clear in third in the individual rankings with a points total of 15.

As well as taking the individual titles, Kimber and his Headington teammates posted a convincing series victory in the team competition, finishing a massive 507 points clear of runners-up Cirencester.

Oxford City A won the Division 2 team title.

Wayne Lillis (Newbury) landed the vet 40 men’s title, while the vet 50 title went to Bryan Vaughan, who, with a points total of 164, easily held off the challenge of Trevor Dixon (Oxford City).

Roy Treadwell (Oxford City) won the vet 60 men’s division.
