Craig Faulconbridge fired a double as Oxford City held on for a valuable 2-2 draw at Tiverton Town in the BGB Southern League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

The game was in doubt right up to kick-off due to waterlogging, but it eventully went ahead 15 minutes late.

City started in positive fashion, with Alex Fisher’s run and shot bringing an excellent save out of keeper Steve Book.

James Faulkner burst through, only to shoot wide with just Book to beat.

Four minutes before the break, Faulconbridge opened his account when he cracked in Mark Bell’s corner.

However, City were rocked a minute later when Mark Saunders levelled.

On 64 minutes, the hosts took the lead through Jamie Mudge after Ryan Harrison saved his initial shot.

Faulconbridge equalised on 73 minutes after a great ball from Bell.

Dave Savage almost won it for City near the end, but Book made a brilliant save.

Banbury United had Nathan Haisley sent off as they lost 3-0 at Bedford Town.

After a goalless first half, Craig Daniels gave Bedford the lead, before Callum Lewis made it 2-0.

It was all over when Lewis got a second, before Haisley received his marching orders.

The closest Banbury came to scoring was when keeper Joe Murrell’s long kick bounced over the bar in the first half.

Meanwhile, Banbury’s Ox-fordshire Senior Cup semi-final against Oxford City will be played at Spencer Stadium on Tuesday, March 24.

Didcot Town’s Division 1 South & West game at home to Thatcham Town was abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch at the Loop Meadow Stadium.

The home side were trailing to a 20-yard own-goal from Jack King on 22 minutes. Didcot boss Stuart Peace was sent to the stand for disputing their goal.
