Holders Blue Boar reached the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Shield with an entertaining 34-22 victory at Harwell.

With captain and fly half Sam Stoop leading their dangerous backline, Boar ran in six tries.

Stoop notched first, but Harwell equalised with a try from flanker Kev Wood.

Skipper Stoop bagged Boar’s second and added the conversion, but hosts Harwell secured an unlikely 15-12 lead at half-time.

Dave Beaven reduced the arrears with a penalty.

A controversial try just before the break put Harwell ahead.

Winger Owen Sutcliffe scampered in after Blue Boar had stopped playing, looking for a touch-judge flag that never came, and Beaven converted.

Blue Boar hit a purple patch at the beginning of the second half, scoring tries through Sam Cover (2) and Max Davies, with Stoop converting one.

Harwell’s forwards were still winning plenty of possession and a determined drive was finished off by Wood for his second try.

Beaven converted to bring the game back to 22-29.

With the match in the balance, both sides had opportunities, but a try in the final minute from James Blanchard secured the victory for Blue Boar.

Littlemore sailed through with a 37-10 win over Didcot.

Littlemore took the lead with an early penalty from fly half Lee Gillett, and soon after wing Darren Andrews scored in the corner.

Didcot reminded Littlemore that they were up for the game, despite playing on the Saturday, and managed a converted try.

Didcot lost their hooker through injury just after the break, forcing the game to uncontested scrums.

Darren Massey bagged the next score after a drive from a line-out.

After chipping away at Didcot for the remainder of the game, Littlemore managed a brace from Aaron Williams and one from Richard Holmes, with Lee Gillett converting all three.

A penalty apiece made up the scoring.
