Didcot Tn 3 (Roach 33, Brown 35, King 44)
Paulton Rovers 0
DIDCOT’S play-off push gained momentum with this victory against fellow hopefuls Paulton in Division 1 South & West.
There was not much between the two sides, except for an 11-minute spell before half-time, when Didcot scored all three goals.
After Elliott Osbourne-Ricketts brought a finger-tip save from Paulton keeper Kyle Phillips, Didcot went in front when Jack King acrobatically launched the ball over the top.
Philip John’s cross picked out Neville Roach, who made no mistake from ten yards.
Martin Brown quickly doubled the lead, heading home Paul Powell’s corner.
Paulton almost pulled a goal back shortly afterwards, but Tom Knighton’s low shot was tipped onto a post by Didcot keeper Michael Watkins and away for a corner.
And a minute before the break, it was 3-0 when Osbourne-Ricketts found King in space and he beat Phillips before rolling the ball into an unguarded net.
Roach had two good chances in the second half, but Didcot saw out time without too many scares to consolidate their fifth place in the table.
