James Clarke has left Oxford United and joined Oxford City in their push for the Southern League Premier Division play-offs.
The 19-year-old right back joined the U’s at under 16 level and, after making his debut at Kidderminster in 2007, made 36 senior appearances.
After new manager Chris Wilder informed him that he could talk to other clubs, Clarke has now left United after having his contract cancelled by mutual agreement.
He has signed for Justin Merritt's promotion-chasing side until the end of next season, and goes straight into their squad to travel to Rugby.
Wilder said: “James is a smashing lad and we wish him well. We know City are doing well at the moment and he will be looked after and enjoy his football with them.”
