A team from King Alfred’s Community & Sports College (Wantage) won silver at the Centre Parcs National Schools south east regional badminton final at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre.
The under 16 boys side of George Brewis, Sam Burr, Harry Boulter and George Guilbert finished second behind Denbigh School, from Bucks.
Three teams from Bartholomew School, Eynsham, found it tougher going.
The under 16 boys did best of the trio – winning two of their four games and losing the other two.
They beat Sandown (Isle of Wight) 5-0 and Royal Latin (Bucks) 3-2, but lost 5-0 to eventual winners Charters (Berkshire) and 3-2 to Thornden (Hampshire).
Bartholomew’s under 16 girls beat Charters 3-2, but went down 3-2 to Thornden and 5-0 to eventual winners Royal Latin.
The under 14 girls side lost all three of their games – 3-2 to Robert Mays (Hampshire), 5-0 to Denbigh and 3-2 to Edgebarrow (Berkshire).
