Melissa Hawtin captured her fourth successive title at the Oxfordshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Radley College.
Hawtin (Gosford Hill, Kidlington) retained her under 17 girls’ crown after having been the under 15 champion for the previous two years.
She came home ahead of Headington’s Beth Swords in the 3.4k race.
Jade Walker (Cheney, Oxford) put in a good run to finish third.
Bloxham’s Sophie Tyers won her third title in four years when she repeated her victory of 12 months ago over Megan Roberts (St Helen & St Katharine, Abingdon) in the under 19 girls’ race.
Tyer’s teammate, Sarah Mills, took the minor honours in the 4.1k race.
North Oxon Academy’s Connie McMillen stepped up on her sixth-place finish last year to take the under 15 girls’ race.
In doing so, she reversed placings with runner-up Lauren Hawtin (Gosford Hill) and third-placed Imogen Kempton (Cherwell, Oxford), who had finished ahead of her in the 2.9k event 12 months ago.
In the under 19 boys’ race over 7.5k, Alex Muir led home an Abingdon School one-two, taking victory over Tom Watkins.
And Abingdon were only denied a clean sweep of the first three by Philippe Essink (St Birinus, Didcot), who beat Joe Kempton for third place.
Radley’s Theo Bromfield triumphed in the under 17 boys’ race, with Burford’s George Miller having to settle for the runners-up spot for the second successive year.
Chipping Norton’s Stuart Ferguson was back in third in the 5.8k event.
George Bridge (Matthew Arnold, Cumnor) grabbed the glory in the under 15 boys’ race.
He came home ahead of Oscar Morton (Gillott’s, Henley), with Tim Price (Gosford Hill) filling the frame in the 4.6k contest.
In the team races, Abingdon School recorded a double success in the under 17 and under 19 boys’ races, while Headington notched a brace of victories in the girls’ competition at under 15 and under 17.
The top eight in each race go on to represent Oxfordshire in the English Schools’ Championships at Stanford Hall, near Loughborough, on Saturday, March 21.
