Sam van de Schootbrugge led the way as City of Oxford shone in the Oxfordshire & North Buckinghamshire County Championships distance events at Aylesbury.
City’s 23 competitors in the 400m freestyle and individual medley (IM) events swam 32 personal bests, won a staggering 21 medals, 15 county titles, and broke five meet records and one county record.
They also achieved two national qualifying times (NQT), 24 regional qualifying times (RQT) and seven regional consideration times (RCT).
Not to be outdone, Abingdon Vale’s Imogen West, 16, won the junior and senior 400m IM titles with an RQT and meet record swim, making her the county’s fastest-ever swimmmer at the event.
Van de Schootbrugge, 15, broke the long-standing county junior 400 IM record with a time of 4.32.05, and also won the age group 400m freestyle title with another best.
Both races were won in NQTs, and he was crowned county champion in four categories; age group, junior, senior and open.
Van de Schootbrugge went home with eight county trophies as City dominated the 15-year-old boy category.
City also reigned supreme in the 12-year-old girl event.
Emma Lomas won the 400m IM and 400m freestyle in new meet age group record times.
Another double winner, Marianna Kristiansdottir, swam personal bests and RQTs to take the 15-year-old county titles in both events.
Molly Williamson won the 13-year-old 400m freestyle, in style knocking five seconds off the meet record.
In the same age group, Thomas Panton claimed the 400m freestyle title in a RQT.
City’s youngest competitor, ten-year-old Lucy Gaen, won the 400m freestyle.
