Alan Mander (+60) is the new Arthur Cook Cup champion in the Oxford & District Billiards League.
The new Club player defeated four-time champion Nigel Bossom (scratch) 200-182 in a thrilling encounter.
Mander led for most of the way, but Bossom, helped by a 39-break, took the lead at 168-166.
However, Mander stuck to his guns, and breaks of 18 and 14 gave him his first victory in the individual championships.
In league action, CCC B have taken pole position in Division 2 after their 3-0 demolition of Oracle.
They have overtaken Ashton, and have a game in hand.
Neil Kirby (+110), Brian Mabbutt (+20) and Ken Olive (+70) were all in top form for CCC B.
Riley A are in a commanding position to win Division 1 after a 2-1 win over their B team.
Matthew Challen (+30) gave Riley A the perfect start by beating Roger Tomlin (+80) 200-141.
Although Doug Baker (+60) levelled, Malcolm Bough (+50) won the match after defeating Bob Hayward (+70) 150-119.
New Club harbour hopes of the runners-up spot after a 2-1 win over HCC A.
Alan King (+20) and Dave White (+80) sealed victory, before John Williams (+70) ensured the was no whitewash for HCC A.
Thame beat Ashton 2-1 thanks to wins from Tom Fletcher (+80) and Keith Maskens, while Terry Cook (+20) and Keith Pearce (+50) gave CCC A a 2-1 success over Eynsham.
