Oxford United reached the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup last night with a 3-1 extra time win over Old Woodstock Town.

A superb backheel in the first half saw Eddie Hutchinson score the opener at Northcourt Road.

But a last minute equaliser from John Mills meant United were unable to relax until two goals in extra time from youngster Richard Groves settled the tie.

United fielded a side that mixed youngsters with players who have had limited first team opportunities recently, including transfer-listed duo Joe Burnell and James Clarke.

It also took extra-time for Banbury United to edge past Hook Norton 2-1 in the night’s other quarter-final.

Banbury led after nine minutes when Ollie Stanbridge fired in from 25 yards.

But Ricky Johnson equalised with a 22nd-minute penalty after Howard Forinton had fouled Chris Jackson.

Johnson had a goal ruled out for off-side on 103 minutes, but Nicky Gordon sealed the tie ten minutes later.

Hooky’s James Hastie was sent off for a second yellow card with two minutes to go.

Didcot Town cruised to a 4-0 win at home to AFC Hayes in BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West.

James Mortimer-Jones put Didcot ahead on 16 minutes, with Philip John (47), an own goal (77) and Jack King (88) completing the rout.

North Leigh drew 3-3 at Uxbridge, with Liam Hope levelling on 90 minutes.

Hope (13) put Leigh ahead, David Warner (17) equalising.

Uxbridge’s Kevin Warner (37) replied to a strike from Stuart Hole (23) before David Warner thought he had won it.

Oxford City add Lee Rendel to their squad when they host Garsington in the quarter-finals of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup tonight.

Oxford C (v Garsington, home): from Wil-liams, Lambert, Davis, Gunn, Pond, Savage, Lyon, Malone, Faulkner, Baird, Bell, Faulconbridge, Carbon, Rendell, Merritt.
