Steve Pitson hit a hat-trick as Saxton Rovers dumped holders Ardington & Lockinge out of the North Berks Cup with a 6-2 victory in the third round, writes ANDY WELLS.
Chris Hooper bagged a brace and Danny Parry completed Saxton’s tally, while Ardington replied through Chris Roche and a Dwight Ciampoli penalty.
Blewbury ran out 3-2 winners over Didcot Casuals.
Bryn Ingram headed Blewbury into a half-time lead, which Tom Ingrams doubled in the second period.
Former Blewbury player Johnny Pearce pulled one back with a 30-yard free-kick, but an own goal restored Blewbury’s advantage, before Tommy Fisher reduced the deficit at the death.
In the Nairne Paul Cup semi-finals, Shrivenham A beat Faringdon Town Res 2-0, with Paul Whitewood and James Cornfield getting the goals.
They will face Saxton Rovers Res in the final after they also won 2-0, with an own goal and a Wayne Waldron strike before the break seeing off Lambourn Sports Res.
In North Berks League Division 1, Drayton wasted the chance to go second with a 4-3 defeat at home by Wootton & Dry Sandford.
George Casserley, Richard Chilvers, with a brace including a penalty, and Tom Srawley put Wootton 4-0 up, before Brad Ritchie, Danny Curran and Richard Wilson hit back.
Crowmarsh Gifford ended Harwell International’s revival with a 5-2 win courtesy of goals from Phil Hedges (2), Andy Allum, Paul Hannigan and Mark O’Hanlon.
Steventon came back from two goals down against Lambourn Sports to claim a precious point in a 2-2 draw.
Lee Wyatt and Shane Preece-Tripp got the Steventon goals after Danny Pearce had scored two penalties for Lambourn.
Warborough & Shillingford moved up into second place in Division 2 after a 6-3 home win over Sutton Courtenay in a niggly game.
Warborough’s goals came from Ross Tabor (2), Adam Oram, Liam Barson, Steve Bell and an own goal, with a Vince Cooper penalty, Karl Crockford and Kearan Russell on the mark for Sutton Courtenay.
Grove Rangers improved their chances of avoiding the drop as they won 3-2 at Coleshill United with goals from Andrew Goodchild (2) and Matthew Booker. Ian Folkes and Gary Ashford were on target for Coleshill.
