Original Swan A’s unbeaten record in the Men’s Premier Section of the Greene King Oxford & District Darts Association was left in tatters as they crashed to an 8-1 defeat at home to Shears.
The visitors stormed into a winning 5-0 lead with Dave Exell (180), Pete Hall, Simon Davidson, Preben Krabben and Kevin Barefoot doing the damage.
Original Swan, who had won their previous seven matches, pulled one back when Nick Cobb (180) beat Kevin Wilkins (180).
But Shears completed a stunning victory by taking all three pairs without dropping a single leg.
The defeat leaves Original Swan seven points clear of Shears, with Railway Social Club four points back in third.
In the Ladies’ League, Shelley Arms D consolidated their position at the top of the Premier Section with a marvellous 8-1 win over Crown House Club.
It leaves them 13 points ahead of Shelley Arms C, who have played two games fewer.
Shelley kept up their challenge with a 7-2 win over the visiting Blackbird Bar.
Section 2’s East Oxford Conservative Club ran out 6-3 winners at Berinsfield Community Centre A.
Ellen Johnson, Teresa Bowden and Victoria Luciw enjoyed success in the singles for East Oxford, who clinched victory by winning all three pairs games.
The victory leaves East Oxford one point ahead of Team Monarch, whose championship hopes were dashed when they lost 5-4 at Donnington Community Centre B.
Cricketers established a five-point lead in Section 3 with a 6-3 win over the visiting South Oxford Social Club.
Shelley Arms A’s 6-3 victory at Three Horseshoes keeps them in touch in the promotion race.
