Kicking proved the difference as Henley Hawks continued their poor form with a 32-24 home defeat to Dings Crusaders in National 3 South.
Both sides bagged four tries, but Dings fly half Adam Westall slotted 12 points with the boot, compared to two conversions from Hawks’ Danny Wells.
Prop Glyn Hoosen-Owen’s powerful drive gave Hawks their first try, with fly half Charlie Hobart feeding full back Dave Birtwhistle to touch down under the posts for No 2, both converted by Wells.
Wells missed a simple penalty to make it 17-3, while Westall slotted one for Dings.
Dings scored their first try through scrum half Ricky Jones. Westall converted this and added a penalty before the break.
Replacement prop Hugo Milford-Scott scored Henley’s third try, but Crusaders took control following a yellow card for home lock Steve Green.
Dings drove their props Ollie Hayes and Chas Meddick over from five metres, Westall converting both.
Hawks wing Will Fulton showed pace to score their fourth, but they were denied a losing bonus point by a try from Dings flanker Mitchell Quoi.
