Mark Simms scored a double on his return debut as Abingdon Town boosted their hopes of beating the drop from the Premier Division with a much-needed win.

The result saw the Culham Road outfit leapfrog fellow-strugglers Milton United.

Simms opened their account running on to a slide-rule pass from Stuart Douglas before finishing cooly.

Although Adam Paget headed the equaliser, Tom Larman restored Town’s lead with a tidy finish.

After the break, Simms completed his brace when he headed in after a lob from Jason Thomas caused panic in the Chalfont area.

Luke Beauchamp made it 4-1 when he deflected Thomas’s piledriver past the keeper.

Ben Smith puled one back for Chalfont, but Town were not to be denied.

Harrow Hill 1 (Weyman pen 42)

Kidlington 3 (Wise 20, Deabill 40, pen 83)

Kidlington got revenge for a shock defeat with a straight-forward victory against the basement boys.

Danny Wise fired the visitors ahead after Jimmy Deabill flicked on a Stuart Cattel cross, before Wise netted his second.

Harrow Hill clawed one back from the penalty spot through Eddy Weyman after Matt Hayward handled.

Deabill netted his secondfrom the spot after being brought down.

Harrow went down to ten men when sub Paul Frowen was sent off for two bookings.

Ardley Utd 2 (Stidder 28, Bone 32)

Ardley shook off the cobwebs with an accomplished performance against ten-man Reading.

Stidder opened the scoring after he fastened on to a long ball forward from Murray Nicholls before chipping the keeper.

Four minutes later, Ardley doubled their tally when Danny Bone lashed home after Nicholls’s shot was parried on to the bar by the keeper.

A resolute second-half defensive display saw Ardley ease home.

Carterton 2 (Wood 12, Threlfall 83 )

Wantage 3 (McKeon 16, Keen 23, Illsley 51 )

Wantage made it two away wins in a row at their Oxfordshire rivals.

Carterton took the lead when Craig Wood drove the ball past Darryl Sims.

Sean McKeon then equalised from close range.

Wantage took the lead when Gary Swann prodded home following Adam Learoyd’s flick-on.

After the break, Liam Illsley made it 3-1 from Matty Horsell’s pass.

Carterton clawed one back through Mark Threlfall, but Wantage held on.

Substitute Alex Feaver scored the equaliser as Hook Norton fought back to earn a share of the spoils against resurgent Bicester.

Bicester took the lead in the dying seconds of the first half when a shot from John Curtis squirmed under John Okole’s diving body and into the net.

Hooky dominated the second half and were rewarded when Feaver headed home after Joe Coleman’s free-kick came back off the bar.

The hosts kept up the pressure and Feaver should have nammed the winner, but fired over the bar with just the keeper to beat.
