Golfers are being urged to mark Red Nose Day by playing in a charity tournament at The Oxfordshire.
Players can do their bit for Comic Relief in the ‘Red Nose Golf Day’ on Thursday, March 12.
The Oxfordshire and the other three Leaderboard Group courses are all taking part, and have each donated £1,000 to the cause to get the ball rolling.
Leaderboard chairman Paul Gibbons said: “Given the recession, this year will undoubtedly be very challenging for charities as well as business, so we therefore need to work harder than ever for the less fortunate people who need our financial support.
“I am sure that golfers will be very excited at the prospect of playing one of our great courses – and at the same time make a big difference to people who need help in society.
“To enter a team of four costs just £200 and the more teams we get, the more money will go to charity.”
Entry includes coffee, Danish pastry, bacon rolls and orange juice on arrival, with a shotgun start at 10am.
The competition format is team stableford with the best two scores counting on each hole.
A three-course dinner, where a red nose and smart casual dress will be required, and prize-giving follows 18 holes of golf.
The Leaderboard Group raised £33,000 for Children In Need in 2008, while Gibbons and his wife Jennifer were recently honoured by SPARKS for their continued generosity and financial assistance.

STUDLEY Wood’s 2008 captains Jeremy Galpin and Marianne Hawke raised an impressive £22,278.09 for children’s charity OSCAR during their year of office.
The duo recently presented a cheque to the charity, which supports children who are suffering with brain and spinal tumours.
