CHRIS Wilder believes teams that pip Oxford United to the play-off places will have deserved it.
His in-form side reeled off their sixth successive home league win by beating Barrow 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The U's have now taken 22 points from the last 24, but Wilder urged supporters, and the players themselves, not to get too carried away.
“We've got to keep our feet on the ground,” he said.
“This win keeps us nicely in there and if those top teams do get into the play-offs, they will have to do it the hard way – they will have deserved to get there.
“If it's not us, it won't be for the want of trying.”
Second-half goals from Craig Farrell – his first for the club – Lewis Haldane and Yemi Odubade enabled United to avenge their opening-day defeat by the same score at Holker Street.
Both Farrell and Odubade had come off the bench, prompting Wilder to say: “It's a big effort from us, and not just the 11 who started.
“I'm delighted for Craig, Lewis and Yemi.
“Farrell came to the party today, and now he's broken his duck, I think he'll go from strength to strength and be a very good acquisition for us.
“Wingers really frustrate me, but Lewis did really well.
“While he was my side of the pitch I could shout at him . . . and he seemed to be much happier over on the other side where he couldn't hear me!”
Kidderminster’s 2-1 home defeat against Northwich yesterday meant that they were the only side above United in the table to drop points at the weekend.
But the U’s have played considerably more games than nearly all of the teams around them.
