In an astounding reversal of fortune, Oxon 3rd turned a 5-0 deficit into a 9-6 victory in Division 5D of Inter-County Championship at Eynsham.
Oxon’s first win of the season came at the expense of shell-shocked Wiltshire 3rd.
After dropping all four mixed and the opening women’s doubles, Oxon took the remaining men’s and ladies doubles and two of the three mixed.
Unbeaten with three doubles wins each were Rob Griffiths, Sam Isaacs and Katie Shuttleworth.
Griffiths and Isaacs plus Pete Browning and Will Green won all four men’s doubles. The three women’s wins came from Nicola Casey and Shuttleworth (2) and Natalie Ng and Catherine Wilson.
Leading 7-5, Oxon dropped the first mixed (Green and Casey), but won the second through Griffiths and Ng and the third via Isaacs and Shuttleworth, for a bonus point.
Dave Soanes and Alison Ross were the high-fliers as Headington A won the odd rubber in nine against Windrush A in Mixed Division 1 of the Oxford and District League.
