Eynsham A shocked Division 1 side House Club B in the quarter-finals of the Gentworks Oxford & District League Simonds Cup, writes DAVID WHITE.
The Division 2 side fought back from 1-0 and 2-1 behind to win 4-2, thanks to wins from Richard Partlett (2), Lawrence Parsons and Bob Thiele.
Fieldside A overcame fellow Premier Division Side Riley B 5-1.
In the Sherlock Cup, New Club B progressed 4-2 at the expense of Riley G.
But the game between Riley E and Cowley Con B went right to the wire.
Mark Bayliss put Cowley ahead, with Jim Smart (jnr) extending the lead.
Steve Green and Richard Mundy hit back to level at 2-2, before Smart (jnr) beat Dave Daley for a second time to put Cowley back in front.
But Green overcame a 45-point deficit in the final frame to defeat Jim Smart (snr) and send Riley through on aggregate.
It was role reversal in the match between Cowley Con C and Riley Vets, with Cowley progressing on aggregate.
With Cowley 3-2 ahead going into the final match, Tony Baker needed to win by 27 points or more to snatch victory for Riley.
But although Baker he triumphed, the margin was not enough to wrest victory from Cowley Con.
