Abingdon Vale came second in the first round of the Chiltern League Gala at the Aqua Vale pool in Aylesbury.
But they were left to rue a number of speeding tickets – swimmers going too fast for the level of the meeting – which cost them victory.
Nine individuals won, with eight relay teams victorious.
