Henley Hawks gave high-flying Ealing a scare before going down 15-10 at Dry Leas.

The visitors were 15 points up after eight minutes with two tries by flying winger David Howells, but they failed to score again.

Howells’s first try after just two minutes was well worked, while his second six minutes later was the result of a wayward pass.

Ben Ward converted this and added a penalty.

Hawks turned round 15-5 down at half-time and added a try in injury time to gain a well-earned bonus point.

Both of the Henley tries were scored by full back Ralph Smith, on the scoreboard for Hawks for the first time since he joined the club from Blaydon at the beginning of the season.
